Academic Planning
Students will have an individual registration appointment with their counselor as outlined in the schedule below. The course selection appointment with the counselor is just one piece of the registration process.

Prior to December 16, 2022 |
All DGS students and families are invited to attend the annual DGS Curriculum Night at the beginning of the school year. During this event, Counselors outline academic priorities and share in grade level presentations. Click here to access the presentations. Teachers meet with students and make recommendations for 2023-2024 courses. Please contact individual teachers with any questions or concerns regarding student course recommendations. Counselors will visit students to explain the registration process. |
December 19, 2022 |
Course recommendations become available on Home Access Center for current students in the Class of 2024, 2025 and 2026. Recommendations are based upon standardized test scores, first semester grades and/or teacher recommendations. |
January 6, 2023 |
Window to choose course requests on HAC will close. Changes to course requests will still be available through communication with school counselors. |
January 10- 13th 2023: Course Selection for Class of 2024 |
Counselor Registration Appointments for the Class of 2024 (current Juniors). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or to discuss potential options with a school counselor. Appointments will be scheduled through the Counseling and Student Support Services Department. |
January 17-20, 2023: Course Selection for Class of 2025 |
Counselor Registration Appointments for the Class of 2025 (current Sophomores). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or discuss potential options with a school counselor. Appointments will be scheduled through the Counseling and Student Support Services Department. |
January 24-27, 2023: Course Selection for Class of 2026 |
Counselor Registration Appointments for the Class of 2026 (current Freshmen). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or discuss potential options with a school counselor. Appointments will be scheduled through the Counseling and Student Support Services Department. |
January 23, 2023: Class of 2027 Future Mustang Orientation Night |
Class of 2027 Future Mustangs Orientation Night: Incoming 9th grade students and their parents/guardians will receive course recommendations via email the week before, and on Monday, January 23rd will have an opportunity to learn more about curricular and co-curricular options. Information will be sent out to families about this event in January. |
January 28th, 2023: Course Selection for Class of 2027 |
Counselor Registration Appointments for the Class of 2027 (current 8th grade students) to review and discuss course requests for the 2023-2024 school year. Appointment information will be shared via email in January 2023. |
February 2023 |
Decisions will be made regarding what courses will be offered based on enrollment. Some students may need to speak with their counselor to select a different course if a course has been cancelled due to under enrollment or has been closed due to over enrollment. |
April/May 2023 |
Some students will need to speak with their counselor during this time to assist in resolving a schedule conflict. Students may need to select a different course to resolve the conflict in their schedule. |
August 2023 |
All students should receive their schedule via Home Access. Course changes will only be made for the following reasons: enrollment process error, failure in a prerequisite course, successful completion of summer school course or scheduling conflicts. Once the school year begins, a student must go through the formal drop process in order to have a class removed from their schedule. Course drops cannot be initiated until the end of the 4th week of any given semester. A student will not be allowed to drop a course, if, in doing so, he or she would fall below the 6 credit class minimum requirement. |
