A variety of academic resources are available for selcted students at Downers Grove South HIgh School. On this page, you will find a brief description of each resource. 

School Based Resources

Grade level: Freshman
When offered: 8th pr. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Description:  Accountability, Independence, and Motivation. This group meets three times per week during 8th period with freshmen students. Students receive support and assistance with time-management, self-advocacy, organization, and work completion.
Additional information:  Students need to be recommended and approved prior to enrollment

When provided:  Varies
Description:  Students are matched with a volunteer staff member at DGS. Mentors assist with connecting students to school activities and resources.
Additional information:  Meeting times and location depend on the student and mentor's availability.

Grade level: Freshman
Description:  Teachers and peer tutors sit down with your student and work on organization as well as homework completion/understanding of content. They also work collaboratively to check grades, set goals, and monitor their progress moving forward. Lastly, if your child simply needs "time" and a quiet space to work, which we can provide as well.
When provided:  Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 3:30-4:30
