Academic Planning

Students will have an individual registration appointment with their counselor as outlined in the schedule below. The course selection appointment with the counselor is just one piece of the registration process.

Planning Timeline
Prior to December 18, 2020

Teachers meet with students and make recommendations for 2021-2022 courses. Please contact individual teachers with any questions or concerns regarding student course recommendations.

 

December 14, 2020: Advisement Day

Counselors will visit all PE classes to explain the registration process, which includes a hand out to assist with course selection.  All videos and supporting documentation will be located on the counselor's Google Classroom.

December 21, 2020

Course recommendations become available on Home Access Center for current students in the Class of 2022, 2023 and 2024. Recommendations are based upon standardized test scores, first semester grades and/or teacher recommendations.

January 8, 2021

Window to choose course requests on HAC will close.  Changes to course requests will still be available through communication with school counselors.

January 11-15, 2021: Course Selection for Class of 2022 

Counselor Registration Optional Appointments for the Class of 2022 (current Juniors). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or discuss potential options with a school counselor.  Appointments can be made through this link.  These appointments are optional.

January 19-22, 2021: Course Selection for Class of 2023

Counselor Registration Optional Appointments for the Class of 2023 (current Sophomores). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or discuss potential options with a school counselor.  Appointments can be made through this link.  These appointments are optional.

January 25-29, 2021: Course Selection for Class of 2024

Counselor Registration Optional Appointments for the Class of 2024 (current Freshmen). This opportunity will be used to finalize requests or discuss potential options with a school counselor.  Appointments can be made through this link.  These appointments are optional.

January 25, 2021: Class of 2025 Open House

Class of 2025 Open House: Incoming 9th grade students and their parents/guardians will receive course recommendations via email this week, and on Monday, January 25th will have an opportunity to learn more about curricular and co-curricular options through a Zoom presentation.  Information will be sent out to families about this event in January.

February 1-6, 2021: Course Selection for Class of 2025

Counselor Registration Appointments for the Class of 2025 (current 8th grade students) to review and discuss course requests for the 2021-2022 school year.  Appointment information will be shared in January 2021.

 

February 2021

Decisions will be made regarding what courses will be offered based on enrollment. Some students may need to speak with their counselor to select a different course if a course has been cancelled due to under enrollment or has been closed due to over enrollment.

April/May 2021

Some students will need to speak with their counselor during this time to assist in resolving a schedule conflict. Students may need to select a different course to resolve the conflict in their schedule.

August 2021

All students must report on Schedule Pick-Up Day to resolve any outstanding balances and to pick up their final schedule. Course changes will only be made for the following reasons: enrollment process error, failure in a prerequisite course, successful completion of summer school course or scheduling conflicts.

Once the school year begins, a student must go through the formal drop process in order to have a class removed from their schedule. Course drops cannot be initiated until the end of the 4th week of any given semester. A student will not be allowed to drop a course, if, in doing so, he or she would fall below the 6 credit class minimum requirement.
