DGS Polar Plunge to take place on Wednesday, March 20

Respect Week is March 18 - 22!

Each year Unified hosts Respect Week on campus. This year the theme is Respect University and we are so excited to announce that we are hosting our first Polar Plunge on campus outside at the DGS stadium during lunch periods!

How can you get involved?

Complete the DGS waiver & permission form

  • Need a paper copy? Paper copies will be available in the bookstore for pickup.
  • All DGS students & staff must complete the paper waiver & return it to the bookstore!
  • *** Please write your lunch period & ID number on the permission slip ***

Return the DGS waiver & permission form to the DGS bookstore with $5 cash.

  • The $5 cash will pay for your pizza lunch that day along with some snacks & water provided by Special Olympics Illinois!
  • The final lunch order will be made on March 18th to be prepared for March 20!

After you have submitted your DGS waiver, sign up on the Website for the Plunge at DGS and select the team (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade or staff) you will join!  Each brave person to jump in the frigid waters must raise $100 to benefit the Special Olympics of Illinois.

Competition

This is a competition between the grade levels & staff to see which group can raise the most money for a good cause! Let’s see who earns the bragging rights & the plunger trophy for the most money raised.

Merch & bragging rights

  • Every participant that raises $100 to plunge will receive a sweatshirt!
  • Wear your Special Olympics Plunge Sweatshirt with pride to share with the world that you were freezing for a reason

Logistics:

  • We will check-in outside at the stadium during your assigned lunch period.
  • You will receive a wristband to plunge & eat.
  • After the plunge, you can change & warm up in the squad rooms underneath the stadium or the bathrooms in the concession area.
  • There will be music outside at the stadium.
  • Food will be served outside of the concession stand. Your wristband will serve as your meal ticket to receive pizza, chips, cookies, & water.
  • More information to follow once all participants have registered online & returned their waivers & $5 dollars to the DGS bookstore.

Let’s connect our community while participating in a caring cause raising money for the Special Olympics of Illinois!
