Students and staff from North and South High School in Downers Grove will participate in the 2023 Illinois High School Theatre Festival (IHSTF), the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the nation. This year’s All-State production, Shrek the Musical, will feature a select ensemble of high school performers and technicians from Illinois.
Several District 99 students are serving as part of the production team, including Natasha Fugate (DGN), Nikolas Godomski (DGS), AJ McAndrews (DGS), and Aidan Sullivan (DGS). William Hunter Evans, South High’s Auditorium Manager and Technical Director, serves as the production’s scenic designer. This is Evan’s fifth time serving as an All-State scenic designer.
The All-State cast, crew, and pit orchestra are composed of the top student performers, technicians, and musicians in Illinois. One hundred twenty-five people were selected for the final production company. Rehearsals for Shrek the Musical took place over several long weekends during the Fall of 2022, with final rehearsals occurring the last few days before the actual performances, which are slated to take place January 12, 2023, through January 14, 2023. Performances are closed to the public.
