D99 Reviewing New Guidelines

Important changes to in-person learning guidelines

Dear District 99 Students and Families:

Earlier today, we received updated guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health. Please click here to view the entire document.

Importantly, social distance for in-person learning has been redefined from six feet to three feet for students and fully vaccinated staff. However, eating requires a full six feet of physical distance. In addition, capacity in a space is based on the number of people who can safely social distance within the space and is not limited to 50 people.

We are evaluating these changes and other information contained in the guidance, including community transmission metrics, to determine our instructional model and safety measures going forward. In the meantime, we hope that you will please respond to the schedule survey sent this morning. (Click here for student survey and click here for family survey.)

Your feedback and District 99 administration’s recommendations will be presented to the Board of Education for approval on Monday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Thank you,

Dr. Hank Thiele
District 99 Superintendent
