2017-18 Calendar – Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele asked the Board to consider minor modifications to the 2017-18 calendar:

  • Staff is currently evaluating the timing of parent/teacher conferences; therefore, the current date of October 4, 2017, which is currently marked as a non-attendance day for students, may be adjusted.
  • Thiele asked to change November 22 to be a non-attendance day and to change December 22 to be an attendance day and the final day of the first semester.

The Board members were open to the recommended adjustments, and will vote to finalize the calendar at a future meeting. The first day of school for students will remain as August 18, 2017.

Board Approvals – The Board voted unanimously to approve the 2017-18 curriculum proposals, to partner with community engagement experts George K. Baum and Minding Your Business, and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. An outside auditor from Miller, Cooper & Co. presented the firm’s positive report of the district’s finances.
