Modified Hybrid Schedule - Week Two

Dear District 99 Families:

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, District 99 will continue to follow the Modified Hybrid Schedule - Week Two. Students who have elected to return for in-person learning will follow the Group A/Group B schedule, which includes in-person classes during the afternoon. Please visit https://www.csd99.org/updates/2020-21 to find all schedules. REMINDER: all classes and buses will run in the afternoon this week.

Last Friday, the DuPage County Health Department reported that it is the responsibility of school superintendents to decide whether or not to hold in-person learning based on local metrics and individual school-level factors. Every week, District 99 reviews DuPage County metrics alongside its own community and school metrics to evaluate its plans for continued in-person learning. We greatly appreciate the partnership with the DuPage County Health Department as we navigate the appropriate path forward and respond to the pandemic.

While the DuPage County metrics are worsening, District 99’s internal metrics demonstrate that it is safe for us to return to in-person learning. Please click here to see District 99’s new comprehensive dashboard that highlights the two metrics and nine factors that we will be monitoring going forward. NOTE: Any positive cases that we recorded on our dashboard in the past week have been a direct result of transmission outside of school. There have been no cases tied to an in-person class or extracurricular activities held at school.

For the past two weeks, our students who attended classes in person demonstrated a tremendous amount of respect for our new rules and learning environment. Please help maintain that safe environment by keeping home any student who has symptoms, has tested positive, or has been in close contact with someone who has tested (or is suspected to be) positive for COVID-19.

We hope that our community and school metrics remain stable, and that we can continue to follow an in-person schedule the week of November 9. The week of November 2 will be fully remote as planned earlier. Please remember that you may opt-out of in-person learning at any point. If you would like to opt-out, please contact your student’s counselor. Note that if you do so, you may not opt to return to in-person learning until the second semester.

In order to continue with in-person learning as an option, our transmission levels must remain low. Please, do your part in reducing the spread of this disease. We have learned that many of you may be planning fall parties. Our schools need you now more than ever before to partner with us so that we can continue with our in-person learning plans. Students and families must help by limiting mixing with others, and when they do, they must wear a mask, watch their distance and wash their hands.

Thank you,

District 99
