The Illinois State Board of Education recognized 596 high school graduates from the class of 2022 who earned College and Career Pathways endorsements on their diplomas. Sixteen District 99 students from the class of 2022 received the following endorsements - one in Finance and Business Services, ten in Human and Public Services, one in Information Technology, and four in Manufacturing, Engineering, Transportation, and Trades.

“The endorsements certify to colleges, universities, and future employers that the student has specialized in one of seven fields. Students earn endorsements by creating an individualized college and career plan, engaging in hands-on career exploration like internships, and completing two years of coursework. Students must also earn at least six hours of early college credit,” said Gina Ziccardi, Associate Superintendent for Student Learning at District 99.

“I am so proud of the students who have earned the prestigious College and Career Pathways endorsement. I applaud the school districts offering this opportunity for students to get ahead in college and career preparation and earn recognition for their hard work and success,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Carmen I. Ayala.

Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Act, enacted by Illinois lawmakers in 2015, created the endorsements to recognize and incentivize student attainment of knowledge and skills vital for success in both college and employment.

Sixteen school districts participated in the endorsements program in the 2021-22 school year.
