Homecoming Events to Take Place at Downers Grove North High School

Downers Grove North High School has resumed normal school activities, and the school will be holding traditional homecoming events from October 18-23, 2021. To allow for participation to take place without masks, many events will be held outside this year.

“We are looking forward to hosting homecoming week for our students, staff and community,” says Director of Student Activities Mark Mirandola. “We hope many students, their families and our community members join us to celebrate for the first time in two years.”

The theme of the week, “Haunted Homecoming,” will include opportunities for the public to participate:

  • On Tuesday, October 19, donate non-perishable food items to receive a free scoop of ice cream coupon for Every Day’s a Sundae. Donation drop offs will take place in the Main Street parking lot from 3:20-4:30 p.m. Items will then be donated to the Immanuel Lutheran Food Pantry in Downers Grove.
  • On Wednesday, October 20, students, families and the community are invited to our Haunted Homecoming Variety Show. Students will perform beginning at 7 p.m. in the North High Auditorium. Admission is free.
  • On Friday, October 22, at 3:15 p.m. the public is invited to watch the Homecoming Parade. The parade route will head south on Prince Street, west on Chicago Avenue, north on Linscott Avenue and east on Grant Street. The parade will include the school’s marching band and floats.
  • Also on Friday, October 22, the football game will start at 7 p.m. vs. Lyons Township High School; admission is free for students with ID, $5 for adults and free for senior citizens.

North High will notify neighbors nearby the school of these events, as well as the Homecoming Assembly that will be held in the stadium on Friday at 2 p.m. and the dance that will be held outside on the football field on Saturday, October 23. The dance will start at 6 p.m. and include a DJ, music and dancing and conclude with fireworks at 8:30 p.m. The festivities will conclude at 9 p.m.

Questions may be directed to the school at 630-795-8400 or communications@csd99.org.
