New Board of Education Member for District 99

New Board of Education Member for District 99

Community High School District 99 in Downers Grove congratulates incumbents Dr. Nancy Kupka and Michael Davenport and newcomer Joanna Vazquez Drexler on their successful campaigns to serve as members of the District 99 Board of Education. Each will begin a four-year term and take the oath of office on May 6, 2019, after the DuPage County Election Commission provides the official election results.

Also at the meeting, the board will elect officers and establish future meeting dates and times. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Service Center, located at 6301 Springside Avenue in Downers Grove.

“We look forward to continuing to partner with Nancy and Mike and welcoming Joanna as a member of our School Board,” says District 99 Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele. “It takes a great deal of dedication and commitment to volunteer to serve as a board member, and we look forward to working with the members to ensure the continued success of our students.”

District 99 also thanks Donald E. Renner III, outgoing member, for his service on the Board since 2015.

“District 99 is fortunate to have had Don to serve our district,” says Thiele. “He is a thoughtful, dedicated leader who also helped to lead the District 99 Education Foundation. Don was instrumental in the community engagement process for the Master Facility Plan, which will positively impact future generations of District 99 students.”

In addition to his responsibilities as a board member, Renner served as an executive committee member of LEND, the Legislative Education Network of DuPage, an organization that helps to identify and influence legislation that impacts students.

Current school board members include Sherell Fuller, Daniel Nicholas, Terry Pavesich, and Rick Pavinato.
