DGS FCCLA Students Are State Medalists

On April 4, South High students competed at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Competition in Springfield, Ill. 

Seven participants earned seven medals, including one Gold Medal - Sydney Gaspari in Interior Design. South High FCCLA competitors and their results are listed below:

  • Reem Abusamen: Silver Medal, Pastry Art Cookie 
  • Anabella Chlada: Silver Medal, Interior Design 
  • Jude Dakak: Silver Medal, Preschool Lesson 
  • Sydney Gaspari: Gold Medal, Interior Design 
  • Nicole Mackowiak: Silver Medal, Children’s Literature Presentation 
  • Anthony Rosalia: Silver Medal, Food Production Relish Tray 
  • Katherine Wilkinson: Silver Medal, Interior Design 

“We are incredibly proud of our students for qualifying for the state competition,” Career and Technical Education teacher and FCCLA advisor Liana Ploski said. “The students worked all year to perfect their presentations and showcase their talents.”
