Joel Kapitaniuk

Joel Kapitaniuk serves a World Language teacher (French, Levels I-V) at Downers Grove North High School. He began his career with District 99 in August 2001, and has since taught French I, French III, French IIIh, French IV, and French V. Kapitaniuk is also the assistant Sophomore coach for Girls’ Soccer at North, and manages the websites Blackboard, Quizlet, and Conjuguemos.

Kapitaniuk received a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Wheaton College and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.

Kapitaniuk’s Teaching philosophy:

The purpose of the school is to help every child reach their potential. I believe in the premise that every student can learn. My objective is to promote a positive learning environment for all students. I want to help establish a nurturing school climate where all students can experience life and grow as individual young adults.

In order for students to learn to respect one another and become responsible citizens, we, as educators need to be role models and develop in our students a clear and focused sense of values. I am committed to work with students who need our guidance. I want to build students’ self-esteem and encourage them to follow their dreams. My goal is to make a lasting impact and create positive relationships with our students.
