Thomas Saam

Faculty

Thomas Saam began his career with District 99 in 2003 and serves as the Social Studies teacher at Downers Grove North. Courses he’s taught include AP Macroeconomics, Personal Economics, and Global Connections, and he also manages Blackboard.

Along with teaching Social Studies, Saam is the Assistant Coach for Girls Track & Field at North, specifically responsible for coaching the throwing events shot put and discus.

Saam taught at Bartlett High School from 1997-2003. Prior to teaching, Saam worked for a credit card company for two years and for a third party real estate relocation firm for another two years. After witnessing widespread financial illiteracy among many Americans while working in these two industries, he was inspired to make a difference by teaching economics and history. His goal is to give students the skills they will need to build a better life for themselves.

Saam received a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. He’s also completed Post-Graduate work in Economics from various Universities.
