North High School in Downers Grove has named Kellie Logterman as the new Head Girls Swim Coach for the 2022-23 school year.
“We are excited to welcome Kellie in the fall,” says Denise Kavanaugh, athletic director. “She has fresh coaching ideas and a proven track record of fostering both the growth of students and a positive team environment.”
Logterman has coached high school swim teams, club teams, YMCA teams and masters swimming teams over the last ten years. She has attended ASCA and USA Swimming conferences to learn all aspects of coaching, technique and nutrition. Logterman has worked as a full-time substitute teacher for the past five years. From 2011 to 2020, she served as head swim coach at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, outside of Rockford, Illinois. Logterman began swimming competitively at age seven and continued through college at Eastern Illinois university, where she still holds top 10 times in the 100 and 200 butterfly events.
“My foundations as a coach are set in the belief that the mental is just as important as the physical to create well-rounded athletes and people in and out of the water,” said Logterman.
Logterman will begin her position in August 2022.
