Downers Grove North High School Athletic Department is proud to announce Head Girls Swim Coach Jennifer Heyer-Olsen. Heyer-Olsen joined the North High Girls Swim Team in 2018 as an assistant coach.
“With decades of knowledge and experience, we’re proud to have Jennifer leading our girls swim program,” North High School Athletic Director Denise Kavanaugh said. “Our swimmers really appreciated her combination of individual and team motivation while navigating a new, modified schedule this past fall.”
Heyer-Olsen began her career as a health teacher at St. Charles High School (now East). She was the head swim coach at St. Charles High School from 1989-2002 and Neuqua Valley High School from 2006-2008. While at St. Charles High School, Heyer-Olsen was named Illinois Swimming Coach of the Year nine times. She led her team to six-straight state titles from 1994-1999 and three third place finishes in 1990,1992 and 2000. Heyer-Olsen was inducted into the St. Charles Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Illinois Swimming Hall of Fame in 2010.
Heyer-Olsen has managed several pools and coaches club swimming year round. Most recently, she has opened her own swimming school, Sharks for Heyer, and is also the lead senior coach for Express.
