About Me

Note to Students: Tell me about yourself, too!  Email me at: swilliams@csd99.org

Hi!  My name is Mrs. Williams.  The 2004-2005 school year is my 5th year as a teacher at South High.  I teach English/Communications 1, Radio 1, Radio 2, and Creative Writing.  I am the faculty advisor for South's radio station, WDGC 88.3 FM.  I am also the co-advisor of Direct Action, a community service club.

I gradated from Indiana University in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in Speech, Theatre, and English.  I also received my Master's Degree in Written Communication from National-Louis University of Chicago in 2004.

I am originally from Jasper, Indiana, which is about 6 hours southeast of Chicago.  I am the oldest of 5 siblings.  My brother Nick is a junior at the University of Southern Indiana, my sister Jill is a freshman at Indiana University, and my two youngest sisters, Katelyn and Jenna, are just 10 and 7 years old!  I have been married for 3 years, and we have an adorable pug named Rocky.

My hobbies include reading and writing, of course, but I also love the outdoors--I spend a lot of time in the summer hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing, biking, etc.  I also enjoy movies, music, and traveling. My greatest  joy, however, is teaching.  I truly love my job and look forward to every day in the classroom!
