Mike Stauffer has been the Mustangs' Head Coach for the past 29 years.  He was the assistant coach his first year at DGS.  He was named "Coach of the Year" for the West Suburban Conference Gold Division in 1993.  Before coming to South  he was assistant coach at Buffalo Grove for one year and he started his coaching career as assistant coach at his Alma Mater, Addison Trail.

In high school, at A.T., Mike worked All Around and was Conference Champion on Still Rings, 3rd on High Bar, and 3rd in All Around.  He placed 14th in the state on Still Rings and was the team's MVP.

He is a Graduate of Northern Illinois University (Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Physical Education).  While at NIU he earned varsity letters in Gymnastics his freshman and sophomore years.  In his sophomore year he placed 3rd in the Mid-American Conference Invitational on Still Rings.  A shoulder injury forced his early retirement from competition.

Coach Stauffer, "At DGS I have had the opportunity to coach many good gymnasts.  We have had a lot of successes and a few failures but no matter what are record has been, I have enjoyed helping them progress both physically and mentally."

Bill is in his 11th year of coaching at DGS.  He also is an assistant coach for the Girls' Gymnastics Team.

Before coming to South, Bill was the Head Boys' and assistant Girls'  Coach at Maine East H.S.

Bill is a Downers Grove South graduate and a former All-Around gymnast.  His best event was Floor Exercise.  He was in the top10 all-time on Floor Exercise until this year.

Coach Norris teaches at an elementary school in the northern suburbs so he travels a long way to come to practice each day.

Coach Stauffer has high praise for his assistant, "Bill is very dedicated to Mustang Gymnastics.  He works well with the lower levels and gives me some great ideas for the Varsity.  He often suggests moving a JV gymnast up to Varsity to help us win a big meet even though it will lower his own team's score.  He is a true "Team Player" and a true "Mustang!"

Steve is a 1st year coach and a former DGS Gymnast.  He is a 2006 graduate.  Steve worked High Bar, Pommel Horse, and Vaulting for the Mustangs and was on both 2005 and 2006 WSC Gold Conference Championship Teams.  He is doing a great job working with our Freshmen Team.

Kristyn is in her 1st of coaching the Boys' Team.  She also just finished her 1st year as Girls' Head Coach. Her  team  won the WSC Gold Conference Championship this year and placed 2nd in the IHSA Regional, Qualifying the team for Sectionals.  She was also named "Coach of the Year" for the WSC Gold.

Kristyn Competed in High School Gymnastics at Willowbrook H.S. in All Around.  She was a IHSA Sectional Qualifier all 4 years.  She was team captain 2 years. She was All Conference, Conference Champion on Balance Beam in 2001, and earned All Academic honors.

Kristyn started her career  in USAG Club Gymnastics competing for 11 years before high School.

She receives high praise from Coach Stauffer, "Kristyn knows her stuff and has been very helpful with all 3 levels this season."
