22. Brian Sorich and Rahul Kamath's quarterfinal IHSA State appearence in
2008.
21. Jenny Hois placing 9th in the 2008 IHSA State Meet.
20. Coach Freischlag being named as the 2007 Illinois high School Coach of
the Year.
19. Coach Freischlag's 400th duel meet win in 2008.
18. Katie Kargl's 5th Place IHSA State Finals in 2005 and 6th Place in 2006.
17. Christina Gogol's 160th career win.
16. Katie Kargl’s 177 career win in 2007.
15. Jeff Neuman's "golden match" in the State Tournament. (24 straight
points in a first round match!)
14. Erin Hois and Marissa Alcantara's 241 varsity wins. (Hois 121 and
Alcantara 120 from 1997 to 2000. Hois has been the only player to receive
All-State honors in both singles and doubles.) Erin was elected to the South
Hall of Fame in 2007.
13. Michelle Radman's 5th place finishes in State in 1992 and 1991. (She was
6th in 1993.)
12. Coach Dan Miller's selection as Assistant Coach of the Year in the State
of Illinois in 1997 and again in 2007.
11. David Ortiz's undefeated junior season and #1 State seed in 1988. (He
finished in the top 8 three times.)
10. Amol Desai and Dan Rooney's doubles quarterfinal appearance at State in
2000. (Rooney is the only player to be All-State with two different players
- Desai in 2000 and Pat Zufan in 2001.)
9. Christina Gogol's 4th place finish at State in 2001.
8. Jeff Neuman's 3rd place finish at State in 1986. (He was 5th and 6th in
1985 and 1984 respectfully.) Jeff was elected to the South Hall of Fame in
2006.
7. The Girls 2000 Sectional Championship won by ½ point indoors at midnight.
(Team members - Erin Hois, Marissa Alcantara, Kathy Jorda, Katie Bohaty,
Purvi Baman, and Yvonne Lopez. The were all too tired to go out and
celebrate.)
6. 1994 Girls sweep of the Conference, winning every point possible. (Team
members - Michelle Radman, Kari Moreno, Margie Brininger, Jill Dunlap,
Larisa Rumin, Kathleen Hayes, Melissa Hayes, Hetal Patel, Gretchen McWethy,
and Jennifer Vollmer. This was the first team to qualify everyone for the
State Meet and they finished 12th.)
5. 1999 Boys Sectional Championship won in two 12-10 third set tiebreakers
that finished at the same moment. (Team members- Amol Desai, Shiraz Madan,
Rick Fenbert, Matt Doemland, Pavon Shetty, and Dan Rooney. You should have
been there!)
4. 2006 Girls Conference and Sectional Champions and 7th in State. (Team
members: Katie Kargl, Jenny Hois, Nathalie Chang, Sherry Lin, Jordan
Thornquist, and Allison Kobe.)

1. The 2007 Girls Team’ IHSA 2nd Place : The Mustangs moved into second
place on Thursday of the tournament and held steady through to Saturday to
take home the 2nd place trophy as 2007 State Runners-up. State medalists
team members included: Doubles teams- Sherry Lin and Nathalie Cheng; Kaitlin
Hernandez and Jenny Birkner; singles players- Jenny Hois, 7th Place overall
and Katie Kargl, 3rd Place overall. The Varsity Girls completed the most
successful run in school history. Individually, three girls broke the 100
win mark for their careers: Kaitlin Hernendez, Sherry Lin and Nathalie
Cheng; Katie Kargl set a new school record for wins in a career at 177 and
Jenny Hois set a school record for wins in a single season with 45. As a
team, the 2007 Mustangs were Conference Champions, IHSA Sectional Champions
and IHSA State Runners-up! Both Katie Kargl and Jenny Hois were named to the
IHSA All-State First-Team. And, as icing on the cake, Katie Kargl received
the most prestigious award in all of State High School Tennis as she was
named as the Tom Pitchford Sportsmanship Award winner for 2007! IT IS A
GREAT DAY TO BE A MUSTANG!
