2008 Schedule/Results

DGS 3 Benet 4
The game started off intense just like we had expected.  We were dominating the whole game.  Finally we were able to get the first goal in the first and only goal in the first half by Cara taking an indirect and Stephanie was able to put it in the net.  The second half however was a completely different story.  It felt like there was a goal being made every minute.    We scored the first goal of the half.  Carly made a great goal.  Then Benet unfortunately made the next 4 goals putting them in the lead 4-2.  The last goal made in the game was by Marissa taking a great penalty kick.  Let's go Mustangs.  Let's go into our last game fighting!!

DGS 1 Oak Park 2
The first half of this game was not on the Mustangs side.  The Huskies came out wanting more goals than we did.  They scored 2 goals on us the first half.  The first one was a breakaway and the second was a solid shot.  The second half we started to step up our game and were able to hold the Huskies off from scoing the whole half.  Unfortunately we were only able to put one goal into the net.  Katie took a beautiful shot leaving the final score 2-1 Huskies.

DGS 2 Glenbard North 0
Shut Out Again!  This is the 3rd one of the season!  The game started out strong and we kept taking shots but none of them seemed to find the net.  After 26 minutes Kelly finally sinks one in after a couple tries. Then less than 10 minutes later Marissa sends it in to the middle and Sarah Moore shoots and scores!  We were able to keep then scoreless the whole half!  Way to go Mustangs!

DGS 4 Morton 0
SHUT OUT!!  We proved today that the DGS Mustangs are the better Mustangs.  We came out playing hard and after only 3:35 Stephanie pressured the goalie giving her the first goal of the game.  Marissa only 14:13 into the game shoots multiple times on goal and manages to get one in leaving the score 2-0 at half.  The second half went just as well for the DGS Mustangs.  22:37 into the half Cara took a direct kick from outside the box and it soared over to the far corner of the net.  It was a great shot.  Then just 10 minutes later we got our last goal of the game with Stephanie sending a great cross from the corner and Katie boots it into the goal.  Way to go girls!  Great defense was played by Cara, Lizbeth, Kaylee, Cassie, and Annie.  Mariah, Barb, and Laura were a great help at midfield.  The team played great together.

DGS 0 Lyons Township 3
The Mustangs came out fighting hard for this game but with the snow and rain it was just to much to handle.  The Lions scored once the first half and then scored 2 more times the second half.  We just could not hold them off.  A big thank you to Marissa and Stephanie for stepping up and filling in on defense when needed! 

DGS 2 Lincoln-Way East 0
Will the rain ever stop????  The Mustangs started the game off very strong which was a great thing for this game!  We scored only 4:18 into the game giving Katie the first goal of the game.  Then only a minute later at 5:30 Marissa sends a great shot through there defense give us a 2-0 lead.  Kelly, Stephanie, and Sarah had a great half and the defense did a great job keeping Lincoln way out of our half!  With only 2 minutes left in the half we had a rain delay.  We were able to continue the game and held off the other team.  What a great shut out!  Good job Mustangs!

DGS 4 Leyden 1
The Mustangs are coming back!  The came started off very strong with Marissa scoring the first goal with a rocket at only 6:19 in.  Only another 2 minutes at 8:12 Cara sends a great return off a corner kick and the ball soars over their defense.  Then less than a minute later Katie scores from the 18 from the same exact spot at the other spots!  The score at the half was 3-0 leaving the Eagles scoreless!  The second half all of a sudden fired up.  The Eagles got a penalty kick only 3 minutes into the half and scored.  The Mustangs were the last to score with 27:05  with Sarah Moore sending a great cross giving Marissa her second goal of the game.  Everyone Mustang played and did a great job.  Great defense was played by Liz, Kaylee, Amy, Cassie, Cara, and Amy.

DGS 1 Hinsdale South 2
The Hornets proved they wanted this win more than the Mustangs.  They came out fighting hard from the beginning and we kept trying but the shooting was just not in our favor.  We started the game off strong with Taylor sending a great ball to Stephanie, she makes a great run and scores the first goal of the game.  We were ably to hold them off for awhile then the Hornets received an indirect and was able to break through our defense to score.  At half we were tied 1-1.  The second half no one score until 26 minutes into the half the Hornets got a breakaway which gave them their winning goal.  Key players for the came were Katie, Amy, Taylor, Lyndsey, and Cassie.  All the girls did a great job.

DGS 2 Glenbard West 4
The Hilltoppers came out fighting and fought just a little harder than the Mustangs.  They started off with the first goal which made us come back hard.  Kelly had a great assist and Marissa was able to score of off it.  The score was tied until Taylor was able to score with less than a minute leaving the score 2-1 at half.  Halfway into the next half the Hilltoppers get a breakaway and score tying up the game.  Then there was a penalty kick and an indirect kick almost back to back in favor of the Hilltoppers and they took the chance and scored twice leaving the final score 2-4.  We went down playing hard and some key players of the game were Cara, Annie, Kelly and Stephanie.  Brooke also had a couple of great saves!

DGS 2  Hinsdale Central 2
The Red Devils came out and tried to win this one with all there might but the Mustangs were able to hold there own.  Did I mention that the wind was like a tornado???  The game was intense from the very start and which ever team was going with the wind was the team that had the advantage.  Annie and Lyndsay played great defense on the sides.  The scoring started off 13 minutes in by the Red Devils.  The whole first half was very intense but the last 7 minutes the Mustangs stepped up there game which lead us to score our first goal.  Katie takes it down and Kelly was in the right place at the right time and scored!  The second half we had the wind to our advantage but the shots were just not making it.  14:30 in HC scores again putting them in the lead.  With one minute left in the game Kelly scores to tie the game!  Way to go Kelly for scoring both goals!  We played great and deserved to win but tying the is great!  Way to go Mustangs!!

DGS 1  Downers North 2
The Mustangs went down fighting incredibly hard against the North Trogans.  The game started off very intense and kept up the same intensity throughout the whole game.  We were able to hold off the Trojans the first half.  We had great aggressive defense being played by Nagle, Doogan, Clary, and White.  It wasn't until the second half when things really started to heat up!  Just 8 minutes into the second half Slayden scored the first goal off the game after receiving a great assist from Martin.  This made the Trojans kick into gear.  North scored 5 minutes later.  The Mustangs were able to hold them off until the very end at a tie game.  With a minute and a half remaining the Trojans scored their final goal leaving the score at 2-1.  Schlictman did a phenomenal job in goal and was not afraid to go after any ball!
