Head Coach Peter Freischlag
Coach Freischlag has been playing tennis since he was 9 and he
remembers his Dad shoveling the snow off the courts in order to play in the
winter. After a stellar high school career at rival Hinsdale South, Coach
Freischlag attended Northern Illinois University on scholarship. He was Captain,
MVP, and an Academic All-American for the Huskies. Coach Freischlag has been
ranked in the top ten in the Midwest seven times and has been the number one

importantly, are still playing years after their careers have ended. Coach

Assistant Coach Debbie Freischlag
“Coach Debbie” as she is known, has been with the program her entire life. First
as the daughter of Hall of Fame Coach James Rees, then as a player at South, as the wife of current Head Coach Peter
Freischlag, and finally in 2001, as a coach herself. Debbie brings to the program years of tennis experience and
knowledge. As a high school standout at South High, she then played for Northern Illinois University. She continues
to play tournament tennis throughout the Chicago area.
Coach Debbie brings with her the great
tradition of South and overwhelming excitement. The Mustangs are extremely pleased to have Coach Debbie on staff!
