Mustang Tennis has a wonderfully rich tradition and is considered to be one of Illinois' top tennis programs. With a “grass roots” emphasis, South Tennis has a tradition of great players and great teams.

The boys and girls teams have combined for over 35 conference championships, six sectional titles and several top-10 finishes in the State. The program boasts the state’s second longest dual meet winning streak at 91, 24 All-State selections, a host of college players, and three former touring professionals.

Believing in the “team” concept, Mustang tennis hosts more team events than any other program in the State. The belief in the team first, started by Coach James Rees from the program's beginnings in the 1960’s, continues today with his son-in-law, Coach Freischlag.
