Art Club
Why Join Art Club?
It is always important for college and career applicants to have participated in school activities or
sports. Art Club is a unique opportunity to improve
artistic skills and sensibilities as well as develop a
greater appreciation of art. It is a chance to learn
something new and at the same time make friends with similar interests
What will we do at Art Club?
Art Club chooses the
activities based on members interests. During each meeting two or three different activities of
choice will take place. On special occasions we may watch a
film, go to a gallery, exhibit, or perhaps an artist studio.
What kinds of art activities are
available during club time?
Members will have the opportunity to work with the
following art media and more:
Fabric Painting
& Dyeing
Candle Making
Set Design
Mosaics
Fimo & Sculpty |
Jewelry Making
Button Making
Glass Beading
Collage
Metal Foiling
Face Painting |
Enameling
Drawing & Painting
Sculpture
Pottery |
The club is always open to new ideas and will take suggestions at any time. Remember that members
have input in planning all activities and events.
When and where will we meet for
Art Club?
Members will meet in room B121
every other Tuesday, after
school. Please check the Art Club calendars for
specific dates. Art Club will not meet on holidays,
during exam weeks, or on days with early dismissal. If a
member is unable to attend a meeting and has prior
knowledge, Ms. Lynn or the art officers would appreciate
notice. All attendance is recorded to honor a commitment and
dedication to the club and fellow members.
What materials & supplies are
necessary to participate?
For the most part supplies will provided by funds raised
by Art Club. A small fee will be collected to help
contribute to supply cost. The majority of projects made
during Art Club will belong to the member. We ask that some
item be contributed for fundraising.
Who can join Art Club?
Anyone who has an interest in the arts and is a student
at South High School. It is not necessary to have had any
previous art experience or talent in order to appreciate,
learn, and have fun in this club. Members need only be
enthusiastic and motivated by the arts.
Can you be a member of Art Club if
you are involved in another activity
or sport?
If the sport or activity does no meet all year long, you
may still join Art Club. The club will need prior
notice of the dates or time period that will be missed.
Please check in periodically in your absence to find out
about important events, fundraisers, exhibits, etc.
If you have any other questions, we will do our best
to answer them at the first meeting, Tuesday, September 30 at 3:30 in B121.
