College Application Procedures
COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 99—NORTH HIGH SCHOOL
COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1) Each senior should have a signed “Records Release” on file with the Registrar (located in room 118).
2) Submit application to counselor:
- All applications should be completely filled out by student. Check for verification/signature.
- A stamped addressed envelope must accompany each application. Be sure to include your return address.
- Include a check for application fees, if required by the college.
- Transcripts cost $3.00 for each college and scholarship application. All applications and midyear reports require a transcript.
3) Please be aware of deadlines/due dates required by the individual college. For example, the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign has an priority deadline date of November 1, 2009 (postmark).
4) Please submit applications to the counselor two weeks before you wish the application to be sent. Applications due early in January 2010 must be submitted to the counselor no later than Friday, December 4, 2009, due to the winter holiday. We cannot guarantee that they will be sent prior to the deadline unless received by that date. (The University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign application must be submitted to the counselor by October 19th)
5) Applications requesting recommendations usually take longer for the counselor to process. When additional recommendations from teachers, sponsors or community people are necessary, please inform the counselor as to who will be processing those recommendations. For example, will they be sent separately or will the counselor be receiving them.
6) Transcripts include ACT and SAT scores. If a college requests “official” score reports, they must be sent directly from the testing organization. If you did not send your scores when taking the tests, your counselor has a request form for you to send or access the website www.actstudent.org for the ACT or www.collegeboard.com for the SAT.
