GOVERNMENT CLUB

Membership:  Government club is open to any student in good standing academically who has an interest in government and politics and is willing to participate in some Club activities.

Purpose:  Government Club exists to provide students with a forum for civic discourse and action.  A variety of activities and events are planned to allow students to enrich their understanding of government and politics through participation.  Representative democracy is based on the enlightened participation of its citizens.  The future of democracy rests on the youth of today understanding and accepting this responsibility to society.  You can make a difference.  Join Government Club.

Sponsor:  Mr. Gary Mitchell, Department Chair and AP Government and Politics teacher. 

Meeting Time and Place:  Meetings are scheduled relative to Club activities.  They are held in the Social Studies Student Resource –Room 249.

• Work the evening of primary and general elections
• County Complex – Wheaton, Illino

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE

• Open to Juniors only
• Opportunity to serve on committees through the Downers Grove Human Services Commission
