Close Up Washington, D.C.
April 11-16
2010
For nearly three decades, the Social Studies Department at North High School has sponsored student participation in this weeklong look at democracy in action. While in Washington D.C. students have the opportunity to interact with students from different states and regions throughout the United States as they make Washington D. C. their classroom. This is not your yellow school bus trip to our nation’s capital. While visiting the many monuments and museums may be part of an evenings activities, the days are spent meeting face-to-face with the policy experts, as you explore the many national issues facing our country. Students will have the opportunity to engage in interactive debates and discussions with other students on a wide range of topics and interests. While the cost of this program continues to rise, scholarship assistance is available through an application process. Specific details regarding program costs and scholarship opportunities should be directed to Ms. Melissa Kezios, teacher coordinator of the Close Up Program at North High School.
