Are you interested in being a wealthy CEO of a company some day? Would you like to own or manage a business in the future? Would you like to go to a Sox or Bulls game to see how sports & entertainment marketing works? Would you like to spend a day at a mall to test your shopping and business knowledge? If a business-related career is something you are considering, come to a meeting this Friday at 7:30am in room 212 to find out about an awesome club you can join. DECA students participate in activities throughout the year where they get a chance to network with business professionals. Take advantage of the opportunity!
There will be a sophomore class board meeting tomorrow (Friday) at 7:25 a.m. in the English Resource Room Rm. 272. We have some possible ideas for a homecoming float and we need to hear what sophomores like best. Also we will be talking about upcoming officer elections. Everyone is invited!
Director Applications for the fall snowball are now available on line at the DGN Snowball blackboard site. Please download all necessary pages in the applications tab. Application deadline is Friday, September 3rd. You must be a senior and have been a small group leader to be eligible. Please see Mrs. Sprengel, Ms. Wilson, or Mr. Leslie if you have any questions.
Attention all senior members of National Honor Society – If you were inducted last spring, you should plan to attend our first meeting of the school year. Meetings will happen before and after school on Tuesday, September 7, just after Labor Day. The morning meeting will start at 7:15 in room 349, or you can attend after school in the student cafeteria. Meeting attendance is crucial – so see you on Tuesday!
Homecoming Retro 80s is just around the corner. For those interested in helping to organize the upcoming Homecoming events please attend a meeting Wednesday, September 8th after school in Room 207. We hope to see you there!
Students that qualified for an academic letter or pin and did not attend the ceremony on August 26th can pick up their letter or pin from their counselor beginning Wednesday, September 8th.
Are you interested in politics? Do you worry about corruption and want to see change in government? Have you always wanted to work on a political candidate’s campaign? Would you like to debate and discuss legal and government hot topics with other students from across the state? Would you like to spend a week in Washington, D.C. learning how government really works? Come check out the NEW Government Club. What do Oprah Winfrey, Rush Limbaugh, and the voice of Darth Vader have in common? When they were in high school, they all competed on speech team. Come see what the award-winning North High speech team is all about on Wednesday, September 8 in room 276 at 3:30. We’ll show you some quick samples of how we act, argue, and talk good. If you can’t make the meeting on Wednesday, come find Mrs. Carlson in room 276. See you after school on Wednesday the 8th!
Attention all World Language Students: The World Language Club will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, September 8 in Room 369. You may attend either before school at 7:30 a.m. or after school at 3:30 p.m. We will discuss how to become an officer and our upcoming events for the year. JOIN the North High H.E.R.O. club! Now open to all students. If you are interested in Culinary, Fashion Design, and Preschool Teaching Competitions, or being active in community service projects such as the Heartland blood Drive, this club is for you! This club meets 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month before school, 7:15 AM. First meeting is September 9th, room 217.For more information see Ms. Bolinger in room 217 for more information.
Do you sing, juggle, dance, rap, act, play in a band, do magic tricks or do any anything else you’d want to show off to an energized Homecoming crowd? Then the Homecoming Variety Show is for you! Please check your school email accounts for all the information regarding auditions. Acts that tie into the Homecoming theme of the 80’s are strongly suggested.
