D99 National Merit Students

Twenty-three students have received recognition in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP). The program recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in academics and have the potential to succeed in rigorous college programs.

“We’re incredibly proud of all of our students for earning this national recognition,” South High Principal Ed Schwartz said. 

“Congratulations to our students for being named with this prestigious honor,” North High Principal Janice Schwarze said. “We are proud to share this exciting news with our community.”

South High National Merit Semifinalists

South High National Merit Semifinalists

Carson Aldrich, Principal Ed Schwartz, Ethan Pawl. Approximately 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Our students will join approximately 16,000 seniors from across the country, representing the top one percent, and will compete for 7,500 NMSP scholarships totaling more than $33 million.

National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar 

From South High, Christopher Cossyleon was named a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. He scored in the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in our region.
