New this Year - Community Advisory Council to the Superintendent

New this Year - Community Advisory Council to the Superintendent

Starting in the 2016-17 school year, District 99 is forming a Community Advisory Council to the Superintendent. The purpose of the Council is to foster a strong and positive connection between the school district and the community. Led by the superintendent and comprised of parents and other community members, participants will serve as a key voice of the community, receiving and sharing information to build understanding and help all students succeed.

Commitment

The Council will meet four times throughout the school year for a highly-structured, two-hour meeting. Each session will include an update from the superintendent and time to share general feedback and concerns. The core of the meeting will be a presentation from district administration and/or faculty on a specific and timely topic.

Members will then explore the topic and offer their perspectives and ideas through a directed activity. Ideas brought forward from the Council will be shared with the Board of Education and District 99 administration to guide decisions.

Membership

The Council will be comprised of 12-18 people who have a vested interest in the success of our students and an interest in sharing their experiences with others in the community. It will include a mix of parents from each school and people throughout the community that District 99 serves. To ensure a balanced group, the Superintendent will invite members to participate based on school building administration nominations and applications received.
