Philanthropy Night and Varsity Basketball Game: Feb. 1

Join us on Feb. 1 for Philanthrophy Night to benefit Erika's Lighthouse!

South High will be hosting their annual Philanthropy Night benefiting Erika’s Lighthouse during the varsity boys basketball game against Hinsdale South on Friday, Feb. 1

Beginning Monday, Jan. 28, South High will be selling t-shirts for $10, in support of Erika's Lighthouse. Those who purchase shirts are encouraged to wear them at basketball game. The South High varsity boys basketball team will take on Hinsdale South in the large gym with tip off at 7:30 p.m. 

Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for students (other high school students, grade school students, and D99 students w/o ID). D99 students with ID and senior citizens over 65 are free.
 

Entertainment during the basketball game include:

  • O’Neill Middle School, Jefferson Junior High, Lakeview Junior High, Eisenhower Junior High bands will be playing with the South High Pep Band 
  • South High Boys Basketball Seniors will be recognized
  • South High’s Step Team and Cheer & Dance Teams will be performing during halftime

“We’re excited to have so many student groups represented in this year’s Philanthropy Night,” South High Activities Director Jennifer Martinez said. “We hope our community members will join us to help to raise awareness and donations for Erika’s Lighthouse.”

Voted upon by students and staff, the 2018-19 philanthropy is Erika’s Lighthouse. This not-for-profit is dedicated to educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression, encouraging good mental health and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
