Governor proclaims Feb. 26-March 4 Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Rep. David S. Olsen presented Governor Rauner’s recent proclamation at South High in Downers Grove, which proclaims February 26-March 4, 2018 as Eating Disorder Awareness Week in Illinois.

On Monday, February 26, State Representative David S. Olsen presented Governor Rauner’s recent proclamation at South High in Downers Grove, which proclaims February 26-March 4, 2018 as Eating Disorder Awareness Week in Illinois. Representative Olsen visited South High School alongside Linda Lewaniak, LCSW, CAADC, Managing Clinical Director of the Eating Recovery Center/Insight Behavioral Health

Olson and Lewaniak met with a group of South High Snowball and Mustang Way student leaders to discuss the importance of eating disorder public awareness. Students were engaged and asked questions on how to best advocate for this important cause. Throughout the week, students will be distributing information to fellow peers in the cafeteria to raise awareness about eating disorders.

“We were honored to host Rep. Olsen and Linda to shine light on this important conversation for high school students,” said Vince Walsh-Rock, assistant principal for Student Support Services at South High. “Local leaders supporting our student leaders in their efforts significantly encourages them to continue to be public health advocates.”
