I would like to bring to your attention a new and exciting event that DGS is participating in this year to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. As a school, we will be participating in the Polar Plunge! Yes, you can raise money for Special Olympics Illinois by jumping into the frigid water of Lake Michigan in February!

4) Information about the cool school challenge.
a) As a school, we will participate in the cool school challenge. This means we are competing against local high schools to see which school can raise the most money. We must have a minimum of 40 students raise $100 dollars each in order to plunge. If we meet or exceed our goal, Special Olympics Illinois will sponsor a pizza party at DGS for our participants in our very own cafeteria after the plunge! Let’s do this! Do you think we can beat Lyons Township and other local high schools? Come on Mustangs, let’s show everyone what we are made of!
5) Waiver Forms and Permission Slips will be available in C149 the student activities office.
a) All students that sign-up for the Polar Plunge on-line must stop by C149 to pick up a waiver form as well as a DGS Field Trip Permission Slip.
b) In order to ride the school bus to the Plunge & receive your plunge bracelet and sweatshirt, participants must have turned in all required forms to C149. Additionally, all participants must have met their fundraising goal!
c) More information about the plunge and our departure time will be provided when participants pick up the field trip forms in C149!
