Faculty

Joshua Bodenheimer began his career with District 99 in 2012 and serves as a Spanish and ELL teacher at Downers Grove North High School. He also serves as a tutor for the Achievement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program and manages Blackboard and Twitter (@SrBodenheimer). When he first began at District 99 he taught a summer school course of Algebra 300 (now Math 1) at Downers Grove South. Other courses he’s taught at District 99 include Spanish I, Spanish II, ELL Resource, and ELL Study Skills.

Bodenheimer began his teaching career as an Instructor of Spanish at Plainfield South High School. He also spent one summer serving as a student teacher of Mathematics at Colegio Anglo Americano, an Argentine High School (Alta Gracia, Argentina).

Bodenheimer earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Teaching of Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During this time, he also earned a Minor in the Teaching of Secondary Mathematics. After graduation from the University of Illinois, he decided to pursue an ELL endorsement, which has allowed him to work with students whose primary language is one other than English. In December 2013, he completed my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University Chicago. He plans to continue his personal and professional education in the near future by pursuing an additional graduate degree.
