Coach Belskis Earns 200th Career Victory
Head football coach John Belskis earned his 200th career victory as the head coach of the Mustang football program with South High’s 36-33 victory over Hinsdale South on Friday, October 12.
Coach Belskis made a dramatic entry into the school's homecoming pep rally last month!
Belskis' career record now stands at 200 wins and 62 losses over a career that began in 1988. In the previous 23 years, he has led the Mustangs to 19 West Suburban Conference titles. In 22 IHSA playoff appearances, Coach Belskis has a 26-21 record including a 2nd place finish in class 6A in 1993 and the very first 8A State Championship in 2001. For all of these achievements and service to Illinois football, Coach Belskis was inducted into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010.
Coach Belskis will be honored at the final South High home game this Friday, October 19 versus Addison Trail.
