District 99 Goals

2011-2012

2011-2012 District Goals

Second Quarter Report on 2011-2012 District Goals

2010-2011

Goal I

By June 30, 2011, all students will demonstrate growth in academic achievement as measured by one or more of the following:

  • Reading and mathematics scores on the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE)
  • Five year trends in ACT scores
  • Growth in test achievement scores from EXPLORE to PLAN to ACT
  • Growth in Advanced Placement course enrollment and test participation

Goal II

By June 30, 2011, a Strategic Plan will be prepared and adopted to establish the long-term goals for the District.   The Board of Education currently contemplates that this Strategic Plan will address the following topics, among others:

(1) The development of a process to identify, implement and measure the effectiveness of current and additional student interventions to assist all students in their mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards.

(2) The development of a process to undertake appropriate “due diligence” associated with the adoption of a Master Site Plan, including development of a process to make tough choices arising from budgetary constraints and time constraints in a considered and transparent manner.

(3) The development of an ongoing community engagement process and corresponding communications plan to enable the District to share information with the public and glean information from the public about its perception of the District and the District's services.

(4) The Strategic Plan will also include alternatives and contingencies to allow flexible adjustments to the Strategic Plan itself to accommodate changing circumstances.

Goal III

By June 30, 2011, a new process shall have been initiated for the appraisal of teaching performance in keeping with emerging research and best practice and in a manner that will recognize each teacher's role and accountability in achieving District goals and improving student learning. (It is understood that successful implementation of a completely revised teacher appraisal process will take 3 to 5 years.)

2011-2012

The Board established the following goals with the intent of reviewing them in context of the developing Strategic Plan and will modify/adjust these goals to conform with the priority goals identified and approved through the strategic planning process.

Goal I

Initiate the implementation of the Strategic Plan that will be developed during the 2010-11 school year, with some emphasis on the use of technology as it might be encompassed in the Strategic Plan.

Goal II

Initiate the implementation of the Master Site Plan that will be developed as part of the comprehensive Strategic Plan during 2010-11.  (It was noted that this goal may be initiated during the 2010-11 school year, dependent on the amount of specificity that is provided to the development of the Master Site Plan in the early stages of developing the overall Strategic Plan.

Goal III

Ensure that the development of the new Staff Assessment Process incorporates the requirements of SB 315.  (This goal may be addressed during 2010-11, dependent upon how quickly rules and regulations are developed for SB 315.)

Goal IV

It was agreed that a goal will be developed relative to student performance, said goal to be dependent on the outcome of the Strategic Plan as well as emerging legislation and rules and regulations that may be enacted at the federal and/or state levels.
