This will most likely be the shortest and least important of the journal
entries. First because Carol and Martha are home and second because the second
phase of the project is a week away from beginning. The first part was a
wonderful experience for all those who actively followed the trip and the daily
reports that Carol and Martha gave each of us a glimpse of a land that is
undergoing monumental change. The problems that they discussed and the
relationships they developed show the real paradox of a trip like this. As
Program Director I am very proud of the work that they have done to make this
first part so successful.
It is now time to begin preparing for the second part. Next Thursday our guests from Armenia arrive here and we have open houses planned at both schools for the following Monday and Tuesday. If you would like information on these please contact the appropriate school. We invite all those interested to come and greet our teaching colleagues. This entry is solicit your help in making this second part a meaningful experience for all of us. If you have ideas on things these people should see or activities you would like them to participate, please contact Carol and Martha via e-mail and we will add them to our list. All ideas will be considered so be a part of the planning. We would also like to encourage any questions you may have about Armenia, about the recent problems there, about the change from communism to democracy, or anything else. Please pass those questions on and we will try to get them answered. This will be the last journal entry for about a week. We will continue with reports on the Armenians impressions of our schools in the next entry. I want to thank all who have followed us and it is my hope that the next reports will continue the fine work of Carol and Martha. Bill Hector |
